Light
.
Gifts of illumination.
Above, around, and throughout all life.

Over the last year and a half, Julia and I have made a strong commitment to take the time to shoot for our personal worth. We feel that shooting for ourselves refreshes and rejuvenates our style and it feeds our soul.  Our purpose was to see how light envelops the landscape around us. How it plays, how it acts, and how we need to practice patience, waiting for what we call "God's Light". Light does not care about digital technology or social networking or even a stimulus package to help the economy. Light has purpose and gives you gifts everyday that you either see or you don't.

"Passing Through Light Project" is all about that. Please join us for an evening of hospitality, music, renewal and illuminating inspiration.

On exhibit now at Venue
March 16th - May 4th
artist reception
Friday, April 24th 7:00 -10:00 pm
Proceeds from this event will be going to a charity called Art REACH which helps expose underprivileged children to the arts by means of hands-on mentoring and teaching.

It was 20 degrees and snowy outside, but Kathleen Cullinan and Tyson Brill heated up Peoria with their passion for each other and tones of crimson in a celebration to remember.

Winter weddings in Peoria, Illinois can be challenging to say the least.  However, Kathleen and Tyson's wedding was so full of opportunity that the season difficulties faded away. Their love for each other was truly inspiring as we traveled between the parents homes, Peoria County Club and the streets of Peoria.  The ceremony set at St. Mary's Cathedral gathered a large crowd to experienced a special lifetime commitment to each other.  Then, hand in hand, the couple was escorted in a limo to the Peoria Country Club.  The entire facility was draped in red and black to create an elegant, sexy, and sophisticated location for a celebration with their friends and family. It undeniably was a night to look back on.

We would like to personally thank Kathleen & Tyson, the families and friends that helped to make this such a special wedding.  Along with them, we can't help but recognize the amazing team of vendors that Kathleen put together to create a beautiful event.

With brides being so busy putting their wedding day together, many times a bridal portrait session does not sit at the top of the to-do list. So, when photographer Anna Beckman asked us to photograph her wedding (which we were honored to do) and then asked to do a bridal portrait session we thought it would be fun. Sessions like this are not the norm in the midwest, however in the south it may be more important than the wedding itself. So, we were up for the challenge and looked forward to the shoot. We found the session to be helpful in many ways especially for Anna it was kinda like a "trial run" of sorts. With hair, makeup, and flowers.  Which all turned out awesome and, off we went.

Anna threw the traditional "bridal portrait session" out the door and gave us creative freedom. We really enjoyed the session and really enjoyed getting to know some of her close friends (who we recruited to be assistants). Julia and I started the shoot at dusk and pulled out all the stops with creative lighting to create what is one of my favorites shots so far this year.

Ryan and Anna will be united on May 2, 2009 so there will be more coming soon of their beautiful wedding in the Vineyard.

With today being Valentine's day I thought it would be appropriate to show you the premier promo of the ONE Conference. 25 couples came together last year with one thing in mind, to work on their marriage and keep it a priority while trying to run a business together. It made such a difference in all of our lives. If you are looking for the perfect gift for your spouse, the second annual One conference is schedule for September 21st-23rd, 2009. You do not have to be a photographer to attend. If you and your spouse are co-partners in business and in life this is for you. Hope to see you there. Visit the website for more details this years speaker lineup will be announced next week.

Have a happy V-tine day everyone. Thank you Ron Dawson for doing an outstanding job documenting this event for us and being a part.

Jeff and Julia-

Hey! We really dug the video of the One conference and my wife and I could not agree more that keeping your marriage strong while trying to run a full time photography business is definitely an on going challenge for all of us. We would love to get more info on this if you can point us in the right direction! Thanks a ton!

Hello Jeff and Julia, Wow on One! Just saw the video for first time today, and all the memories came flooding back as to how inspiring the conference was. Bill and I had decided we just couldn't afford to go this time. But I am determined with the help of God and a few good promotions to make it there. We won't know till middle August. So we will check if there is any availability left then, and if so we will be there with smiling faces to support and grow from the 2nd annual One Conference. Namaste, Judith Bell

Well its been pretty exciting around here the last week with our clients getting some press not only in premier bridal magazines, but on some of the premier wedding blogs as well.

If you've never checked them out you should definitely do so, as they lend great ideas to brides in the planning process as well as showcase some beautiful real weddings.  We are thrilled to be featured in the "who's who" media outlets of the industry, especially because they are by invite only. It makes us proud that the work we love to do and the relationships we are so fortunate to capture have allowed us such wonderful opportunities.

                Grace Ormonde

Grace Ormonde is showcasing our newest endeavor called Jeffrey and Julia Woods ~Black Label~. This is something that we are really excited about. We have teamed up with Super 8mm cinematographer Andy Jackson of Portal Films. The three of us mesh so well together and the results are shared from a artistic point of view. By showing an image and then adding a few seconds of film footage you get a more holistic documentation of what happens in those moments.

Julia and I always ask our bride and grooms what drew them to us. Why did you want us to photograph your wedding, when we know you have so many options available to you?  We are always overwhelmed with emotion when they say as one bride put it "There is no one else we would rather have photograph our wedding, because you see weddings the way we envision ours."

We just want to say to all of our past bride and grooms - THANK YOU. Thank you for allowing us to be us and to be able to capture your relationship the way we see it. We appreciate the sacrifices that you have made to give us the opportunity to see first hand the love between the two of you. Your LOVE is truly INSPIRING to us. Julia and I work hard at building lasting relationships in our own marriage and with our children, so we know how much your relationships with each other, your family, and your friends mean to you. It's in relationships, that we find our love of photography. If you would like to see more feel free to contact the studio (info@jeffreyandjuliawoods.com).
